Standard 3: Digital Age Learning Environments ISTE coaches create and support effective digital age learning environments to maximize the learning of all students.
This standard has been one of the most challenging for me. Through this master's program, I have tried to not only develop a digital learning environment in my own classroom, but also to share what I learn with my co-workers and fellow teachers. Below are two examples of activities and tools I have implemented in my classroom to create a digital learning environment. I plan on expanding my use of these tools in my own classroom, as well as continuing to encourage my fellow teachers to implement them too.
Below are two artifacts that display my competency this standard, specifically by meeting indicators 3b, 3e and 3g:

Below are two artifacts that display my competency this standard, specifically by meeting indicators 3b, 3e and 3g:
Artifact 1: I met indicator b. with this class project because my students collaborated together using a variety of digital tools such as edmodo, as well as youtube and other video making equipment (e.g. their iPhones) to complete this activity. My students were very engaged in making their videos and appeared to enjoy this new way to learn the math concepts. The success of this project helped encourage me to further integrate multiple types of digital tools and resources in my classroom. Please click the "Video Integration Project" button below to learn more about my experience with this activity.
Artifact 2: The second artifact demonstrates my competency with digital communication tools. This past year, I have started using my twitter page to communicate with my students and colleagues. Specifically, this meets substandard g, which states that coaches should "use digital communication and collaboration tools to communicate locally and globally with students, parents, peers and the larger community." (ISTE, 2015) For example, I update (i.e. remind) the students about upcoming assignments and tests. I also share math, technology and education research and information with the community and parents.
Being a Coach: I am working towards growing my professional competence with this standard. I am continuing to research apps and other software to be used in the classroom and with colleagues. I am also working towards connecting better with my colleagues on social media to share educational research and cutting-edge teaching tools.
